INDY CAR RACING so...
I guess it makes sense that Zachary would get right in on the racing action. At our second week of church attendance here, it was announced that the scouts would be having a pine wood derby car race in three days. Other kids had already been preparing for a while, but David asked for a kit anyway. With the race days away and David starting his "real" job (after a week of training) we just weren't sure we could get a car done in time to race. Not to mention the fact that any tools we have were still in boxes since moving.
Zachary loves to get David's old derby cars out to play with. He has even taken them to show and tell at school. Now was his chance to have his very own and he was too excited to let a time crunch slow him down.
David vowed that he was not going to make the car for him, so Zachary set to work. He drew the design, David cut it out, and Zachary got to work sanding. With help from his dad (Hurray, Dad doesn't have homework!) Zachary's car was ready in the nic o' time.
When Zachary and David got home from the race you would have thought Zachary had won the real Indy race. He was so proud! He won fastest car at the races, was invited to take his car to the district race and he made a bunch of new friends!
